The Story
Behind the Work
I am Pilar Zuluaga, geographic data analyst, designer, GIS specialist and landscape architect.
I started my career as an Architect which organically evolved into a specialization in Landscape Architecture given my passion for the natural world, ecology and geography. This field introduced me to GIS as a tool to more deeply analyze and understand cities and landscapes.
Over the years, I’ve worked on big-picture master planning projects in Bogotá, Colombia’s capital and one of Latin America’s largest cities. I’ve helped develop the New Orleans Reforestation Plan and collaborated with the EPA to support communities across the U.S. in building resilience to climate change and natural disasters. My work lives at the intersection of design, data, and storytelling.
I turn spatial data into visual narratives. I take points, polygons, and lines, and transform them into compelling graphics that communicate clearly and spark conversation. I bring together analytical thinking, a trained designer’s eye, and a storyteller’s instinct. Whether it’s mapping climate risk, creating interactive dashboards, or developing visual tools for planners and communities, I connect data to people in meaningful, creative ways.
Let’s make something meaningful, beautiful, and impactful.
